Session 01: Neurology

Neurology is a branch of medicine dealing with disorders of the nervous system. Physicians specializing in the field of neurology are called neurologists and are trained to diagnose, treat, and manage patients with neurological disorders. Most neurologists are trained to treat and diagnose adults. Paediatric neurologists, nearly always a subspecialty of paediatrics, treat neurological disease in children. Neurologists are also involved in clinical research, clinical trials, as well as basic research and translational research. Neurological disorders are disorders that affect the central nervous system (brain, brainstem and cerebellum), the peripheral nervous system (peripheral nerves - cranial nerves included), or the autonomic nervous system (parts of which are located in both central and peripheral nervous system). Neurologists also diagnose and treat some conditions in the musculoskeletal system.

Craniotomy is the surgical removal of part of the bone from the skull to expose the brain. This process requires specialized tools that are being used to remove the section of bone called the bone flap. Neuro-Traumatic Injury is a form of acquired brain injury, occurs when a sudden trauma causes damage to the brain. With a great support from our Collaborators and Organizing Committee, PULSUS Conferences successfully completed the “5th Annual Meeting on Neurosurgery and neurological Surgeons(Neurosurgery 2018)” which was held at Mercure Singapore on Stevens, Singapore on September 10-11, 2018.
